Grand Cinema

Grand Cinema Is Fun for Everyone
Grand CinemaWelcome to Grand Cinema, Baton Rouge's family-oriented theatre. With all the amenities of more expensive, impersonal mega-theatres, the Grand has carved out a niche for moviegoers of all ages, and is especially suited for parents and children seeking the unique pleasures of the silver screen.

Independently owned and operated, Grand Cinema has the friendly atmosphere and personal touch that other theatres can't match. Its location off Coursey Boulevard near Jones Creek is easy to reach and surrounded by some of the best dining in Baton Rouge. A family night out couldn't be easier.

"We're safe, family-oriented, and right here in the middle of the neighborhood," says Brian Lambert, General Manager of Grand Cinema. "We cater to our customers, especially youngsters. We're the only theatre in town that opens early enough for school groups. And we offer midnight shows on Friday and Saturday night -- later than anyone else."

The midnight screenings are great if you want to catch a first-run show on Friday and Saturday but wish to avoid the crowds.

No one offers a better price in town for a movie ticket or for concessions than Grand Cinema. And the fair prices don't translate into a reduced movie experience. The stadium seating at Grand is superbly comfortable, with high-back seats featuring pull-down armrests. The screens are full-sized and sound quality is state-of-the art, as good as at any mega-complex. Completely re-modeled two years ago, the Grand has a fresh appearance and is kept scrupulously clean.

Summertime brings the Grand's famous Kid Camp, an outstanding 11-week program featuring morning screenings of G and PG rated films such as "Cheaper by the Dozen" and "Charlotte's Web." School groups, as well as BREC and YMCA send kids to enjoy the wholesome entertainment -- and the general public also participates in a separate movie house. Just $3 buys a ticket plus popcorn and a drink. It's an unbeatable deal for kids and adults alike.

Lobby of Grand CinemaGrand moviegoers are a loyal bunch, quick to praise their favorite theater. Sylvia Eaves regularly travels 15 miles from Denham Springs with her daughter to see a movie here, despite numerous closer theaters.

"We're willing to take the time to drive here because it's the best theater around, a great stress-reliever." says Sylvia. "The tickets and refreshments cost much less than at other theaters. And the staff here is so nice and accommodating. They want you to be comfortable. One time, in all the years I've been coming here, we sat down at the wrong movie by mistake. We talked to the manager and he took care of us right away. He went out of his way to help us. I've never been treated this nicely at a theater."

Located at 15365 George O'Neal Road, Grand Cinema can be reached at (225) 755-3851, or visit them on the web at www.thegrandcinema.com.

GRAND FANS SPEAK OUT!
"It's a great way to spend the afternoon with the kids. It's not cluttered or crowded. It's safe, it's clean, it's wholesome. The camp gives the kids a fun thing to do during the summer -- it really takes away the boredom and helps our family." --Noreen Boudreaux

"We love the stadium seating. They always have every movie that comes out that we want to see. It's real clean. You can put your own butter on your popcorn -- that's the kicker." --Warren Tedder

"I work with a child who has disabilities. It's very easy to get him in and out of the theater. They play great movies all the time, very up-to-date. The seating is great, and it's not jam-packed like the other theaters." --Nicole Fisher

"My daughter and I come here quite frequently. The staff always treats us kindly and courteously. The theater is always clean. The seating and reconstruction they've done is impressive. It's stress-free. I don't feel pressured like I do at other theatres." --Sylvia Eaves
